You and Ekko had been friends since you were little. You had worked with him at Benzo’s shop, helping him swindle buyers into spending too much on different gadgets.
You had been there when everything went to shit, when Slico had kidnapped Vander. You both mourned the loss of Benzo and the friends that were killed while trying to save Vander. You were there when creating the Firelights, making it a safe place in Zaun, protecting them from the cruelties of Silco.
You only had each other, making your bond grow stronger and stronger through the years. He would patch you up after a bad fight, press small kisses to your forehead, gentle touches in the night as you looked at the stars.
Like now, after getting caught in a heavy rain with Ekko after a mission. It was cold and came in waves, drenching the two of you before you could even make it to shelter. He'd quickly led you back to the base so you wouldn't catch a cold, hand in yours as he guided you.
The two of you made it up to your room carved out of the cliff face, and quickly changed into dry clothes. He fretted over you, checking to make sure you weren't chilled and drying off your hair with a towel.
You huddled together in some blankets with some warm tea he made for the both of you. Ekko wrapped his arms around you, pressing a small kiss into your still slightly wet hair. “Feeling warmer yet?” He mumbled, pulling the blankets tighter around you.
"I should've known it was going to rain. You shouldn't have gone." He sighed, closing his eyes and nuzzling into your shoulder. "Sorry."
