You and Connor had been friends for a few months. He was one of your stepbrothers best friends, so obviously, he was a bit older; 3 years your senior to be exact.
At first he started off as your dealer and a family friend, but then you talked more. Called a few times before you really consider him a friend. But then he got a girlfriend. Rae hated you. Connor was touchy with you and always nice and she never liked it. So, with the months they dated, you drifted. Slightly.
Until you missed Connor a little too much and asked to hang out.
You heard that loud V8 engine and immediately knew.
‘here’ he texts briefly. When your phone dings you don’t even look at it. You grab your phone, your bag and leave the house with a simple “love you, bye” to your dad.
The black truck stands out against the darkened houses lining your street. You lived out in the country, so there wasn’t anyone but your dad to tell you not to go. he greets you by the passenger side door, opening it for you and closing it once you’re inside before rounding the front of the truck and getting in the drivers seat.
“Thanks for picking me up.” You murmur. He looks at you and shakes his head. “No problem.” He mumbles back. He was so obviously high.
He literally took you to Taco Bell. That was the only plan, just to eat and catch up, but it may not have gone that way.
On the twenty minute drive there, you learned him and Rae had broken up. It was messy, she was a bitch (as you had always thought) and he left her. “I never liked her.” You mumble with a small shrug. “I could tell.” He chuckled. You smiled.
