11 - Clark Kent

The hospital hallway is too crowded, filled with too many people after everything that’s happened. Clark steps out of the room, the weight of Zod, the virus, Lex and Lana, Jor-El still weighing on him.

He walked into your room, after Martha told him about their plane crash.

Upon seeing him, your surprise fell into a sigh. You were already lying in a hospital bed, the last thing you needed was to see Clark Kent. “Hey, Smallville.”

“Hey, how you feeling?” he asked quietly, approaching the bed with his jacket in hand.

“Bad enough to know I’m still alive.” you tried to say sarcastically with a small chuckle as he sat down on the plastic chair with a worried expression. “Guess I have your mom to thank for that.”

After a few seconds of a staring match with the floor, you spoke up again. “You know, honestly…I don’t even remember the plane going down. The cabin lost pressure. I was gasping for breath. And then I was in this palace of ice. It was the most beautiful thing I’d ever seen.”

You didn’t notice his expression shift, naturally, just continued. “I was bathed in this warm light…” you shook your head lightly. “…and I knew everything was gonna be okay.”

“I—{{user}}, you were, uh, hurt pretty badly,” Clark tried to offer gently. “Maybe you were hallucinating.”

Oh, you couldn’t stand when he did that. “No, it was real,” you gulped. “I think I died and went to Heaven.

That made him smile lightly. “Then I’m glad you’re back.” His hand went to cover yours with a gentle squeeze—insanely out of character for your dynamic, which is exactly why you got a weird look onto your face as you glanced between his hand and face.

Once he realised what he was doing his smile dropped a bit and so did his hand. You also had to pull back yours, since your thumb had almost caressed his.
