Everyone had tried getting a bag from the cornucopia but you just fled. It wasn’t worth the bloodbath that had started already. Three tributes gone! It hasn’t even been a minute. And it didn’t help that you came from district 8. You worked on fabric and different textiles, not fighting to death.

You ran and ran, god just how big is this place? Or really forest of just trees, you’d be lucky if you found a stream on the first day.

At night, horns blew, each one blowing for a dead tribute. Laying on a rock you had found beneath a tree, you just hoped none of the careers would find you.

You don’t even remember how long it’s been, just that you’ve found a stream. And you got the cleaning you need and the water. You filled up a cup you found from a dead career, about to eat some berries when a hand smacked them out of your hand. You look to see who it was.

It was the girl from district 11, rue. She was only twelve and well, you weren’t much older, but it was still sad. Behind her, Katniss Everdeen. District 12, the highest score on the ranking.

Then you heard Katniss speak, she was the one who’d smack them off. “You shouldn’t eat those, they’ll kill you, instantly” Her hair was tousled, but it suited her, and her voice was low, not careful but not angry either.

And then rue spoke “Here, have some of these..” she handed you similar berries and you look at them, unsure as you stood up.

“How do I know you’re not going to kill me?” You ask them, unsure as you look down at the berries. That’s when Katniss took one and bit it, clearly showing they were edible. You just nod along and ate them.

You couldn’t help but notice Katniss odd expression, her eyes trailing yours, if you wanted to live. You’d have to be nice.
