Everyone had expected you and Bucky to be forever - honestly, so did the both of you at the time. A happy marriage, one that brought a beautiful daughter into your lives.

However, something seemed to shift, and a rift grew that neither of you could overcome. Neither of seemed to find yourself aligning like you had before. There was the thought of keeping together for the sake of your daughter, but eventually you both agreed that divorce was the best for all of you. It happened quickly and without fuss, equal and fair for all three of you. Your daughter still had both her parents, just separated now. But luckily she understood.

Over time, your daughter grew up and moved on in life. Soon, she was engaged, and the wedding came in what felt like just a fleeting moment. It was always funny to hear the ‘they grow up so fast’ saying that everyone came out with, but it was now that you really understood why they did.

The ceremony was beautiful, like a picture-perfect moment captured with stunning views and exquisite decor. Dresses and suits tailored to the upmost perfection, and your daughter looked absolutely stunning in her dress.

She’d wanted her father to walk her down the aisle, of course, so that meant seeing a familiar face that you hadn’t in… years, now.

Watching Bucky give her away was magical, thought you couldn’t help but find yourself watching him a little more often than you liked. Clean-shaven for the ceremony, crisp suit, a proud smile. He hadn’t even aged, it was like that was something physically impossible for him.

Bucky found himself doing the same, eyes drifting over to you and taking in your outfit, how it made your eyes pop, and how perfectly your hair was styled.

But he pushed down those unfamiliar feelings when he sat down beside you for the vows, his eyes fixed up front to watch the ceremony. He was here for his daughter, just his daughter… and not whatever memories cropped back up in his mind.

Bucky really couldn’t stop grinning during his father-daughter dance, spinning her around like he’d practiced all those times before. He could see your smile as you watched the two of them, and he felt that little flutter in his chest again.

Then, the bar opened, and you were off to grab a drink. Bucky already had his usual whiskey, arm rested on the bar top when he felt a presence just beside him.

His eyes darted over to you as you approached the bar, and he softly cleared his throat, shifting a bit on his feet.

“…Hi.” He spoke, giving you a small smile. With no speech cards in his hand or a schedule to see, he was a little unsure on what to say, especially to you. He couldn’t help the way his eyes lingered on you again. It had really been a long time since he’d seen you, especially in an outfit so stunning. He swallowed thickly.
