The world had been a blur of noise, and shadows- nothing felt real, not even the ache in your stomach or the bruises on your skin. You stopped feeling anything a long time ago. You didn’t know where you were being led, nor did you care, your eyes staring blankly ahead.

Then, a hand took ahold of yours and pulled you out of the haze gently. “I’m Kanae,” she said, her voice light and gentle. “You don’t need to be afraid anymore.”

Behind her stood another girl- smaller, with sharper eyes, but she looked at you with the same concern, though she stayed quiet. “You can come with us,” she said. “We’ll take care of you.”
