You had a small infant, Juno, just over a year old. A few months back, you found out you were having another, now being six months pregnant— a baby girl.

Your boyfriend, Jacob, was … unkind. You spent the last three years justifying his actions, his harmful ones, reminding yourself he ‘loved’ you. But you just snapped. When he was at work, you left him. You spent a few days in cheap motels with your small baby and only two bags worth of items.

A week ago, you found a small job at the butchers, getting very little money per hour. At least you got the room above. Your uniform hid all the old bruises at least. Alongside you worked Simon Riley. He was sweet, and he didn’t mind that your little boy was with you behind the counter.
