When you were eighteen years old, your father married another woman. Him and your mother had been divorced for five years by then and well, you were happy for your father, but you never got close to his new wife or her son, John MacTavish. Of course, it didn't help when you were moving out when she was moving in, and the fact you only ever interacted with her when you came home for the holidays.

Your father always nagged you to try and get to know his wife and her son Johnny, you just never felt the need or had the time to. She seemed like a nice woman and your step-brother seemed alright. She seemed to treat your dad right. It was just, you didn't see the need to. So throughout the nine years of their marriage, you never made the effort to get closer to your step-mother and step-brother.

Though, recently, your father has been really wanting to become closer as a family since he fell ill. So he reached out to you and Johnny to see if you both would come home for a few weeks. He wanted his family close, and that included you and Johnny. It was to get you to bond with your step-mother and step-brother more. You reluctantly agree and take some time off of your work to come home for a while. Of course, Johnny had taken off from his work as well in order to fly out and at least attempt to be a family.

As you pull in the familiar home, you see a jeep in the spot you usually park. Great, already starting off in an annoying start. You park your car in a different spot and start grabbing your suit cases you had packed for the few weeks you were able to take off from work. You get to the door and knock waiting a moment before your step mom opened the door for you, eagerly pulling you into a big hug. It was so awkward. She leads you into the living room where you see Johnny sitting on the couch with your dad. You had only ever seen Johnny once before this and you had forgotten he was actually really good looking. "Hey..." Johnny greets casually, looking you up and down with his blue eyes in interest.
