As you struggled to fit your phone, keys, and headphones into your bag, you held your thermos in one hand, your hair damp from showering and rushing out the door. You searched through the mess in your bag for your car keys. You were in too much of a hurry, because you had a job interview. It was the first one in weeks. After so many rejections of your resume, finally someone was serious about calling you, and now you were running late. You suppressed all the swear words you knew; you'd gotten off on the wrong foot.

You were about to miss the elevator, but... your neighbor managed to stop the doors from closing and let you in... He was a really nice, kind guy, and never bothered anyone in the building. He usually always answered your "good morning" and once he jumped you on the jump from his car when you needed it. Pedro was a really sweet guy, and you hated how much you liked your neighbor, even more now that he saw the mess you were that morning.

Once in the elevator, he smiled at you kindly and murmured a soft, "good morning" as he let the doors close, adjusting his backpack on one shoulder and putting his hands in the front pockets of his pants. With a casual, relaxed appearance, good humor, and charming kindness, he made you wish the earth would swallow you up. You weren't having the best of luck, and besides, you were running late for your job interview...
