The smell of sea salt fills your nostrils, the distinct sounds of sea gulls and the gentle lapping of waves against the shoreline making you smile softly as your eyes gaze out at the orange and pink horizon in front of you, the sky bathed in light as the sun was setting.

When the sun went down, it was your favourite time of day. There was nothing quite like the sunset, and you always made it a habit of watching the sun setting every day, just to feel that little bit of warmth in your chest.

Of course, there was only one person in the world who knew about this—Leon, your boyfriend. He loved watching the sunset with you, feeling his own sense of calm from watching the end of day due to his high-stress job as a federal agent. But, more than that, he loved watching you as you watched the sunset, seeing the colours reflected in your eyes, seeing the wonder that adorns your face.

He decided to surprise you one day. The two of you got in his old pick-up truck and drove down to the beach, parking up by the shoreline and laying out a blanket on the bed of the truck. A picnic and the sunset, what could be a better date than that.

He got the best show, though; unable to tear his eyes away from you as you sat and watched the sun go down on another day, his lips curled into a rare smile as he dared not touch you, wanting to preserve that sense of wonder within you—until you turned your head and caught him staring at you, to which he still didn't turn his eyes away, only smiling more.
