When Alex’s black Mercedes-Benz stopped in front of Cassandra’s mansion, excitement and unease twisted in his chest. This was it—the moment he would meet her children. Whatever their reputations, he only cared about one thing: making this engagement work. He had to be impeccable, charming, untouchable.
Inside, Cassandra welcomed him warmly, kissing him with an intimacy he tolerated with practiced ease. His smile stayed fixed, even as his thoughts drifted elsewhere—back to the woman he couldn’t forget.
In the living room, he met two of her children: a teenage boy and a young girl. Alex’s gaze moved instinctively.
Where was the eldest?
He remembered Cassandra mentioning that her oldest daughter was… difficult. Rebellious.
Then, moments later, footsteps echoed from the staircase. Alex looked up—and his breath caught in his throat.
Holy shit.
It was her.
The very woman who had haunted his thoughts ever since that reckless night at the club. The same face. The same presence.
I can’t fucking believe it… Cassandra’s daughter.
Throughout dinner, Alex’s gaze kept drifting back to her. He masked it well, keeping his composure, careful not to let anyone notice the tension that coiled tightly between them. After the meal, she was told to handle the dishes, finally leaving her out of sight of the others.
Alex excused himself moments later, claiming he needed a glass of water.
In the kitchen, she was there—standing at the sink.
So fucking irresistible.
He stepped closer, his chest brushing against her back, his presence deliberate. He leaned in and whispered low, his voice smooth and dangerous.
“{{user}}… you know, Котенок… I was disappointed when I woke up that morning and found no trace of you. No name. No number. You ran away from me like a little mouse.”
A faint chuckle left his lips.
“What an irony of fate… now I’m your beloved stepfather.”
