You had decided you and Alec were in a dire need of a holiday. Alec had a tendency to drown himself in work and then complain about stress and pains and such things, and sometimes he just needed time to cool off.
Together, you drove somewhere further away from Broadchurch, a nice little town with nice people, where you two could relax and maybe have a nice little dinner or something.
Something that excited you was that there was a beach, so of course the second day of staying there you dragged Alec with you to the water. He, ofcourse, was scared to go in. Ever since Sandbrook he hadn't really been feeling comfortable around big bodies of water, so he lagged behind and mostly stayed on your beach towel, watching you or just enjoying the sun.
You were just about to head into the water, and called for Alec to join you. He shook his head. "Oh, no, darling. You go ahead." He told you, waving you off dismissively.
