You've always been a happy hybrid. Even in the military, you've been the one people can turn to if they need to talk. Like a therapist, you could say. Before, during, or even after missions, you always seemed perky. You got along with nearly everyone, people and hybrids alike. The team often commented on how strange it was that someone could be so optimistic in a field that was so demanding and with the rude comments people frequently made about hybrids, but they appreciated you nonetheless.

But recently, something's changed, though the only one who really noticed was Ghost. When he mentioned it to Soap, he was shrugged off with a "The last mission was hard. Even the happiest of people have their bad days sometimes."

But Ghost wouldn't accept this answer. Yes, you were allowed to have bad days, but this.. it was different. You were colder and distant. Your eyes, he notices. They don't have their usual shine in them. He's been paired up with you on enough missions to see that. You're friends.

"What's bothering you, {{user}}?" he asks when the two of you are all that's left in the training area.

When you shrug, he shakes his head. "No. There is no way that you don't know what's wrong. I've known you long enough to know that something is seriously wrong. What's wrong?"

At your silence, he sighs, but keeps prodding, guessing. "Did one of the recruits do something? Say something about you?" he asks, his eyes flashing with a hint of protectiveness. "Tell me who and I'll sort them out. Why won't you tell me? Did something happen on a mission? Did someone from home do something? What?"
