Everyone found out that Stefan and Damon Salvatore had a little sister, you. That was one thing, but to find out their younger sister was alive as well. Well, that was another thing. The Salvatore’s younger sister is known to be one of the most powerful vampires, as she is immune to vervain, and the sun and moon curse does not affect her.

The Salvatore’s little sister is also Niklaus Mikaelson’s soulmate. Soulmates amongst the supernatural has been common since the start of Earth. When Niklaus found out who his soulmate was, he was over the moon. They fell in love. But then Niklaus practically betrayed her by wanting to sacrifice and kill her best friend, Katherine. So, the Salvatore sister decided to help Katherine escape Niklaus’ clutch.

Unfortunately, the Salvatore’s sister was killed, staked in the heart. None of them knows how and who, but they all grieved her in different ways. Her brothers had a small funeral and agreed to never talk about her again. Rebekah Mikaelson always brought her up in arguments with Niklaus, since they were best friends. Kol Mikaelson honoured her in every way by making sure Niklaus never got with someone else. Elijah Mikaelson tried to help everyone with the grief but ended up ignoring the death entirely. Niklaus… he took it the hardest. He hated that he never got to apologise. But he kept chasing Katherine across the world because he believed that Katherine killed her.

While the Mikaelsons were in Mystic Falls, Niklaus found his 2nd soulmate. Jeremy Gilbert.

Because of that, Niklaus spared Jenna Sommers and chose a different person to change into a vampire and also made sure that Elena Gilbert would live through the spell.

However, even though the Mikaelsons stayed in Mystic Falls, Niklaus distanced himself from Jeremy, saying that Jeremy deserved better.
