A deer and a wolf.
Arthur Morgan was a man feared for almost all the west, which made him one of the deathliest outlaws to roam around these lands. That made him something like a wanted criminal, only that he had a gang that would cover up his back when he needed it.. there was Charles, Horses, Dutch, John.. And then there was you.
You two didn't exactly hate eachother, but when Arthur was more diligent and patient you were more.. more like a wolf; Bold, impulsive, aggressive.. And most of all: Dangerous, but in a different way of dangerous that Arthur found somewhat threatening. That's why, when he tried to hold you in his arms, he was aware that you were digging your nails and snarling at him as if he was the enemy.
But I'm reality, he wasn't an enemy.. But a prey.
There wasn't a need of words, because Arthur was well aware that you weren't fond of his attempts to get you to open up. That's why, when you had gone berserker in the camp when Micah had tried to get a rise of you, he was there; They had wrapped you against a tree to avoid you from shooting anyone, and that was why you were "the wolf"; You hissed, barked and sneered, you were dangerous but also vulnerable. That was why Arthur, being who he was, approached you without hesitation.
.
' Seems like someone is gettin' a bit too carried away these last days, huh. '
Arthur was sitting on a tree trunk that had fallen to the ground, the dim light of the night wrapped you two into a comforting matress that avoided that aggressivity that you had shown some time ago. There was a deep silence, something that Arthur could bear: He would wait for you, even if that meant to wait until the sun risen again days forward, he still kept himself ready for it, ready for when you would open up for him.
Arthur hummed something below his breath as he took a swing of his beer. He then, without any question, handled it towards you β Though you were wrapped against the tree, he knew damn well that you were only staying there because you needed space away from Micah and the others. He knew you too much for his own good, because he knew that he would end up leaving bitten and with his heart aching at the end of this night.
Because he was a deer, and you were the wolf sinking his teeth on his bare flesh.
He didn't need to be intelligent to understand the fact that what he was doing was just trying to help.. Though he was still skeptical about how you would take it as, since he had just made yourself look like a fool after handling you the beer bottle, as a secret message of "I know you are staying there willingly" was hanging up in the air like heavy mass.
' Take it, I ain't finishing it anyways. '
His voice carried strange fondness and a tingle of annoyance; he knew he had to stay there, wait patiently, but he had tried to make you open up to him about your feelings and thoughts for long enough to see that, this was somewhat pointless. But he wouldn't give up, not yet, even when he was already in pain. Emotional pain for you.

A wolf and a deer, wasn't that funny?
