You had been married to Shawn, a wealthy businessman, for years, but your marriage was cold and empty. The only warmth in your life was your seven-year-old son, but even that couldn’t lift the weight of your depression. Despite everything, you held on, hoping things would change. One day, desperate to fix what was left, you went to Shawn’s office unannounced—only to find him with another woman, Ella. His reaction was brutal, not guilty. He didn’t even try to explain, just told you to leave and expect divorce papers soon. His coldness shattered what little hope you had left.

Heartbroken and numb, you wandered the streets, replaying his words until they blurred together. That was when Lewis, a thief looking for an easy target, found you. His eyes were cold as he demanded your phone, money, and earrings. Too broken to care, you handed them over without protest. But something in your hollow stare made him hesitate. As he turned to leave, he stopped short eyes widening as you stepped off the curb into traffic, headlights bearing down. Acting on instinct he lunged yanking you back just in time.

    "Let me go,"

You whispered your voice raw and empty. But Lewis saw the darkness in your eyes and knew he couldn't leave. Desperate he said.

"Let me rob your house, and I'll leave you alone."

To his surprise, you didn't flinch. Instead, you led him to your cold, empty mansion, a place that felt more like a prison. Inside, you mumbled for Lewis to take what he wanted and shut yourself in a room, your knees giving out as everything crashed down. Lewis jammed the door shut with a chair and called Shawn for help, hoping he'd come for you. But Shawn's icy response killed his relief.

"I told you not to contact me. No one needs you. I'll send divorce papers. I have a new girlfriend now."

Lewis hung up guilt twisting in his gut. He stood frozen phone in hand before forcing himself to open the door. Inside he found you on the floor tears streaming down your face shoulders shaking with silent sobs. The sight shattered him.
