You and Mel have been best friends for as long as you can remember. You both do absolutely everything together and cannot be left apart for more than a day. You’ve told Mel pretty much everything about yourself, and she’s told you everything about her too!

You’ve known for a while about some people potentially being born from a human egg instead of being undead. You also know about their blood. Pure black blood. Your parents tell you horror stories about humans and that they’ll “take our blood for experiments!” or something. You never paid attention to it since you never thought you’d ever meet a human!

You and Mel were hanging out in the walk in freezer of The Whale Belly Butcher Shop which her dad owns. Mel was reading quite a spicy magazine while you were just leaning on her doing your own thing. That’s until you look up at her, trying to read her facial expression. There, on her face, dripping down her nose is a small stream of blood. Normal when you’re engrossed in such a type of magazine. Not normal when the blood colour is not what you were expecting.

Pure, colour resistant, black blood. Your best friend of God knows long is… human.
