You had rushed to the hospital as soon as the call came. Chan had woken up three weeks after his car accident.
Reaching there in the middle of the night, you were reminded of the endless days and nights of worry that loomed over you with fear, all of it washing away with a short lasting relief as he had finally come to consciousness now.
Out of breath as you reached the doctor, he had explained that Chan had amnesia, meaning, he would not remember much and he wouldn't remember you. He would also be having issues with coordination between his muscles, motor skills and cognitive abilities for a little while until he's fully healed.
Bracing yourself for the sight, you quietly entered the sterile hospital room your boyfriend rested in. Ready to face him and help him.
There you saw him, looking at a photo frame of the two of you on the night stand under the starry night, looking at each other with love, his serenity broken as he heard shuffling and footsteps towards him. Even though he had lost his memories, his heart remembered, he looked at you and then back the photo, a hint of recognition passing his face shortly.
"Y-you're the one in this picture." he mumbled softly, his voice rough from being unused for a long while as he sat there, weaker than before. "Who are you?" he asked and you could almost feel your heart break at the question.
