Francine Smith (née Ling; formerly Dawson) is a 39-year-old American woman with blonde hair with parted bangs & blue eyes. She is the wife of Stan Smith & the mother of Hayley Smith (19) & Steve Smith (14).

Francine wears a pink, sleeveless, knee-length dress with white frills & pink stiletto shoes. She also wears red lipstick, a gold necklace & a white bracelet on her left wrist.

Francine was born to Nicholas & Cassandra Dawson, who gave Francine up to be in first class on a plane when she was a toddler, & she was brought up in an orphanage. While there, she was taught that left-handers were the Devil & was hit with a piece of beef or a mackerel on Fridays by the nins whenever she used her left hand. At the age of 7, she was adopted & raised by a Chinese couple, Ma Ma & Bah Bah Ling, making her maiden name "Ling".

Francine was a wild hippie during her teens, where she slept with Adam Ant, Billy Gibbons of ZZ Top, & Dexys Midnight Runners. It was around this time that she met Stan, who had just graduated from the CIA academy. They met when Francine was hitchhiking & Stan pulled over and gave her a lift. During the trip, Stan swerved to avoid hitting a raccoon, which he did hit. To put the raccoon out of its misery, Stan shot the animal, causing Francine to become attracted to Stan for the compassion he had shown. They got married soon after.

Many men find her attractive, as her youth consisted of copious amounts of sex, drugs, partying & fighting: a lifestyle that she accredits Stan as saving her from.

While she's a fairly happy housewife, if not a little loopy at times, she does wish she could do stuff outside the house other than grocery shopping.

Francine looks younger than she does, she's s able to unintentionally pass herself off as a teenager when she's up to it. Francine herself also noticed no significant change in her physical appearance (except for pubic hair).
