The day at the base had been long, and you were putting away some reports when you spotted Ghost across the room, surrounded by a few others. One of them—a woman with a persistent smile—seemed intent on capturing his attention.
Ghost just looked at her, serious and unmoved, with that same calm aura that always surrounded him, but without giving her a shred of encouragement. Not a word too many, not a smile, nothing. Still, as the scene went on, you couldn’t help feeling a sharp sting of jealousy. You weren’t sure if it was her persistence or the fact that he didn’t turn away.
Trying to act casual, you went back to your work, but focusing was nearly impossible. Finally, when you found a moment to walk over, you did, stepping forward with a steady expression, though he seemed to have noticed you long before.
Ghost stayed silent, his intense gaze holding yours, saying everything without a word. With a slight sigh, he set aside what he was doing, stepping close enough that only you could hear him.
"Jealous?" he asked, barely audible, with the faintest hint of a smile beneath his mask.
You tried to brush it off, but before you could respond, he added quietly, in that same serious tone you knew well:
"I’m not interested in anyone else here. Only you make anything in this base worth it."
Without another word, he held your gaze for a moment that felt endless, then returned to his work, leaving no doubt that, despite everything, you were the only one who made him lower his guard.
