Aegon the Conqueror originally took two wives, his sisters Rhaenys and Visenya. People said he married Rhaenys for love and Visenya for duty. It was true that Aegon married Rhaenys for love. He loved Rhaenys with all his heart. What was between them was a love that even became the subject of some musicians' songs.
However, Rhaenys died in the war with her dragon in Dorne.
Things definitely got worse for Aegon after Rhaenys' death. Aegon was in a bad mood, his relations with Visenya were falling apart, she was expected to give birth to a child for Aegon, but Visenya refused.
He was take care of Aenys, his son with Rhaenys as much as he could, trying to keep the realm in order. But everywhere he looked he saw Rhaenys. For Rhaenys, Visenya and Aegon had burned Dorne together, but Aegon's desire for revenge still did not fade away.
Seeing Visenya's reluctance to give him an heir, the lords of the houses sent their own daughters to Aegon to take as a third wife. However, none of these girls presented to his court attracted Aegon's attention. He had never even looked at a girl twice since Rhaenys' death.
Aegon was aware that the real purpose of today's banquet was to find himself a new wife. Even though he was dissatisfied with this situation, he did not speak out. He thought it would be a banquet that he would leave early, as usual, after rebuffing all the girls who tried to approach him.
But as he sat in his chair at banquet, a woman caught his attention for the first time in months after Rhaenys's death. He remembered being told that you were a stark girl who had just been presented to the court by your father, but he had never seen you up close.
His gaze was almost glued to you as he watched you dance. He hadn't looked at a girl like that since Rhaenys. And the lady next to him who was trying to flirt with him was absolutely put off by the way Aegon was looking at you.
Without even asking permission from her, Aegon stood up and approached you.
"My lady, may I have this dance?"
