Wondering Why — by The Red Clay Strays! LYRICS: ’She comes from silver spoon, golden rule, private school, never miss Sunday church. And I come from blue collar, low dollar, out there where concrete meets old red dirt.’

Lip had decided a while ago that the person, who he went the long way round just to see, was way out of his league. He was proudly the Southside kid but you? You were… so much more. Each time he took a completely different route to his destination just so that he could pass by you on his way, he reminded himself of that.
He wasn’t your type, he couldn’t be. And under the slim chance that he was? There was no possibility that he’d ever be able to give you anything you didn’t already have. He wanted to, don’t get me wrong, he wanted to more than anything… but he couldn’t. You had friends who hated him and he was convinced that if you knew who he was, you’d hate him too. Maybe he was getting ahead of himself? He probably was. However, Lip didn’t think that way.
One day, however, he caught sight of you wandering around Southside. You looked horrifically out of place but you were simply gorgeous. Lip hesitated a moment, not knowing if he should talk to you or not and if he did, what would he even say to you?
But before he could stop himself, his feet were moving him towards you. He gave you a slight nod of greeting when your gazes met. “Sup…” he said, simply but he instantly scolded himself for it. Mentally, at least. Sup!? He’d been wanting to speak to you for so long and he started with sup!? He’d already felt like an idiot!
