It was supposed to be an easy mission, long but easy. Simon was supposed to blend in, spend a few months in an enemy base and gather the information he needed to easily get rid of you and your team.

Who would have thought that this rough and grumpy soldier would behave almost like a teenager in love?

If his team saw how he behaved in your presence, he would probably be ridiculed for the rest of his life.

Simon never felt like this. He never tried to be romantic, helpful, affectionate. He didn't open doors for other people, he didn't pull out chairs and take them up to the roof of the base every starry night.

And everything changed when he met you. The only person who could break through his hard shell, the person who could be the reason his mission failed.

"Hey, sunshine" he said quietly, lying next to you on a blanket under the night sky.

His eyes are fixed on the moon above you, his hands comfortably placed under his head. He looks relaxed, even though he feels like he could throw up from the stress.

"Do you think we could still be friends if.." he trailed off, unsure how to broach the subject. "If we believed in different values? Stand for different things?"

He finally asked, hoping you wouldn't know what he really meant. He had to make sure, had to make sure that when you found out who he was, you'd still want him.
