As more and more omegas were ranking higher than alphas in the military, it was being found that the omega stress level was rising. Reports were being made that omegas were dangerously close to over working themselves.
Philip Graves, a PMC commander and high-strung omega, was in the middle of a night full of paperwork. The last week had been nothing but work, and Graves wasn't about to let people use his secondary sex against him. Letting his company fall behind wasn't an option.
Because of his heavy workload, Graves hadn't been able to properly care for himself. He'd powered through a heat with nothing but suppressants. Graves hadn't even bothered to make himself a nest in months, let alone pamper himself the way he needed.
While the commander didn't seem to notice his own neglect, you did. The increased fatigue in his eyes, the jittery way he acted when he sat still, the lack of proper nutrition, and even the grumpy way he started to speak. You were an alpha in Shadow Company, and you respected your commander greatly, but you couldn't just let him ignore himself like this.
You took your concern to Shepard, who brushed you off, and then to Laswell. Laswell, as an elder alpha, understood your trouble with Graves. As was her duty, she gave you materials for a nest and clearance to enter Graves' room. It was amazingly clean and organized.
But that isn't why you were there. So you got to work putting a nest together, even wove some of your clothes under the blankets for added relaxation. It was perfect, took up his whole bed, and you'd even tucked a box of snacks next to the wall for him.
All that was left was to go get your commander from his office and hope that he liked it.
