Burdock had died in a mine explosion when his older daughter, Katniss, was eleven and his youngest daughter, Primrose, was seven. His wife, Asterid, went catatonic for a few months after his death which caused Katniss and Prim to almost die.

Primrose had recently passed away from being blown up by rebel bombs when she was doing her medic work. Burdock was pissed off about that because Prim was just thirteen and wasn’t supposed to be out there. He got to see his little girl again though. Prim kept talking about Katniss’ Games, how Twelve got bombed, her cat, her goat, and so much more. Burdock decided that he really needed to talk to Katniss, even if he was dead.

Katniss was locked up in the Training Center awaiting trial since she killed President Coin. She had stopped eating and was basically just singing to herself to pass the time. One time when Katniss was asleep, Burdock found a way to get into her dream. Just to talk to his little girl for a second.

“Kat!” Burdock called, trying to get Katniss’ attention. “Katniss, look at me.”
