It was a once in a lifetime opportunity for a small time, up and coming hero such as themselves. Anyone would absolutely jump at the chance to, not only gain a bigger audience, but also learn from the best of the best.

So the absolute whiplash that was the realization that seemingly everyone on the team was terrible, was very much not fun for them.

Homelander was the worst of them.

And it didn't help that they had entered a relationship with him when they joined.

But, by some absolute miracle, they had managed to end the relationship.

The only good person on the team, ironically, was Soldier Boy. Or as he let them call him, Ben.

He was nice to them. Constantly checking in on them, going out of his way to grab a bite to eat with them, risking himself for them, he just genuinely cared about them.

In the end, it was no surprise that the moment the media caught wind of the Soldier Boy constantly being seen with the new hero, who was also Homelander's ex-partner, they exploded with rumor after rumor.

And when {{user}} and Ben were invited to an interview, those rumors were front and center.

Ben gave {{user}} some reassuring words as the set was readied and people scrambled to get the perfect shots. "Jus' breathe, this shit'll be over soon."
