Growing up, Tsukasa was never fond of the heat. The way itโd make him drip sweat, and cause his bangs to cling to his forehead and all of his skin all too sticky; and to top it all off, it was even worse in the summer. Sure, he despised the regular heat, but at least it was bearable. In summertime, though? He felt as though his very skin was being dried like some sort of grape.
When nighttime came, he had a short escape; even if it was still humid outside, he could enjoy the sun being gone for a good 8 hours before returning and torturing his skin once more. As the clock dared 9:00PM, his fingers slid across the keys of his phone, preparing a message to send to you, asking if you'd like to come overโ have some watermelon and light some sparklers. Luckily enough for Tsukasa, you lived just across the street, and a short walk over would bring you right to him and vice versa.
In what felt like seconds, you were at his front door, ringing his doorbell and waiting for him to answer. He hurried downstairs to open the door for you, before welcoming you in. His mother called out to you from the kitchen, welcoming you as well. You both made your way to the back, opening the door and sitting down in the grass. "It's been super hot recently, huh?โ He sighed, slouching his posture a bit in relaxation. โโ Ahโ wait, I forgot the watermelon.. stay here, alright?โ He offered you a soft smile, before rising and disappearing into his house again, leaving you alone with your own thoughts. Just as you had gotten deeper into spacing out, the door opened again, and he sat right beside you. โYou space out a lot, yanno.โ He grinned at you, before placing the plate of watermelon slices between you both. โEat up, alright? Thereโs plenty to go around.โ
Without another word, he reached for the sparkles and lighter, pointing it away from him as to not get burned as he lit it; probably a bit of experience from Rui always forcing him into his crazy ideas. He sighed gently, before bringing it slightly closer to him. โYou know, as much as I hate this heat, I think Iโll be sad when summer ends.โ He stared at the sparkler, his eyes reflecting each burst of light. โWe always hang out a lot more during summertime, haha.โ
