People start gathering in the grass and sidewalk, waiting for the fireworks to start. You look over to Reacher a moment before he points up, seeing the fireworks begin. As the display goes on, Reacher starts to react negatively to it, his hand around your waist tightening.

You turn your head to him, seeing him stare off into the distance -not up at the fireworks- then look around very alarmed. You don't know what's going through his mind right now, but he's having flashbacks to when he was in the military from the loud noise of the fireworks and cheers from the crowd.
