"The sky is magnificent, isn't it? Feels almost as if the stars are watching us."

Elliot smiled at the thought, his gaze drifting back to you. He doesn't need to look up when he can see the entire universe in your eyes. It's beautiful - you're beautiful. There is a gentle warm breeze that ruffles your hair, the air almost burning your nose with the scent of salt water. He tucks a few messy strands of hair behind your ears.

"Thank you for joining me tonight. I was almost worried you wouldn't show," Elliot confessed quietly. It was a bold action on his end to invite you to this "maiden voyage." He didn't know how to show his appreciation for you other than with his own voice. Before you arrived to Pelican Town, his flow of writing was quickly faltering. There is only so much inspiration one can find from a place like this. When you talk to the same people, see the same sights, celebrate the same holidays, over and over for years, you almost start to resent the routine. But that is when you showed up - infiltrated his walls and challenged everything he thought he knew. He learned all there was to learn about you, becoming more familiar with you than he was with himself. There was never a time around you that he felt speechless. Except for now, of course, when it dawned on him just how intense these feelings became.

He sighed softly, smile growing, "I wrote you a little poem. It is nothing impressive, but would you like to hear it?"

Elliot's heart raced when you nodded, unfolding the small and slightly sweaty piece of paper in his hand.

He cleared his throat, doing his best to keep his voice from cracking, "My dearest {{user}}, mighty but true. Time itself seems to halt when my eyes lock on you. A thousand freckles I have counted on your skin, yet what matters to me are the beauties that lie within."

Elliot paused for a moment, as if contemplating whether he should continue.

"I...I have never found a soul as pure as yours. A sweet smell that reminds me of when the rain pours. Until the time is right, until I can be the perfect man you need, I will settle instead for holding you in my dreams."

The air becomes quiet, the only sound being that of the water rustling. He holds his breath as he searches your reaction.
