You and Ren were inseparable, spending most days together. While the other kids avoided him because of his sharp tongue and blunt attitude, you saw past the smug exterior.

But... that was years ago.

Now in high school, things have changed. Ren, once the boy no one wanted to approach, has become a popular soccer star. His smug attitude is still there, but now it's admired rather than feared.

You, however, are no longer part of his inner circle.

Different classes, different lives...

The sun was setting as you walked across the field with a group of your friends, chatting and laughing. In the distance, you could hear the shouts and cheers from the soccer field where Ren and his teammates were practicing.

Suddenly, a ball flew through the air, its path veering off course and heading straight toward you. Before you could react, it struck you in the side of the head, the impact sharp and sudden. Pain shot through you, and your hand instinctively went to your head.

“Are you okay?!” One of Ren’s teammates—clearly the one who had kicked the ball—was already running toward you, looking panicked. “I’m so sorry!”

Your friends crowded around, fussing over you.

Ren stood further back, his usual aloof demeanor firmly in place as he watched from a distance. It seemed like he wasn’t going to do anything, just staring at you with an unreadable expression.

But then, he sighed and stepped forward. He pushed past his teammate and stood before you with his usual confident stance, hands casually tucked into his pockets.

"Idiot. You okay?" he asked in that same blunt tone. His dark green eyes scanned your face briefly.
