Mattheo is pacing so furiously around the common room that he nearly knocks over a lamp.

“This is bad… this is really bad!” he mutters, running his hands through his hair.

Theodore glances up from the sofa, his legs draped over one armrest. “Dude, what is it?” Theodore asks.

“I kissed {{user}}…” Mattheo blurts out.

Theodore freezes, then lets out a low whistle. “Wow. I owe Blaise so much money!” he laughs.

Mattheo whirls around and glares at him. “Are you kidding me right now?! Draco’s going to hit me!" he exclaims, his breath catching as he collapses onto the couch beside Theo.

“You kissed his girlfriend, mate. You’re lucky I don’t slap you myself,” Theodore remarks. “I mean, I knew you had a thing for her, but you actually did it.”

“I didn’t mean to!” Mattheo groans. “It just—happened. She was yelling at me for being reckless in class again and I was yelling back and then… she looked at me like that and I just—” he cuts himself off.

“Looked at you how?” Theodore teases, clearly enjoying the drama more than he should.

    “You know how,” Mattheo mutters.

Theodore smirks. “Mate, this is either going to end in a duel or a love triangle so messy the entire House implodes.”

“I hate myself,” Mattheo mutters. “He trusted me. And I—Merlin, I didn’t even stop her.”

    And then—

“Funny. I was just thinking the same thing.”

The voice is calm. Icy. It's detached in a way that's much worse than yelling.

Mattheo freezes. Theodore turns his neck slowly towards the source of the voice, as if he already knows what's waiting.

Draco is standing in the doorway to the common room with his arms crossed.

    Theodore clears his throat. “Well…”

Mattheo shoots to his feet. "Draco, listen. I didn't mean for it to happen, all right? Things just got intense and—” he stammers, trying to explain, but Draco raises a hand to stop him.

“Don’t,” Draco says. “I heard enough.”

Mattheo’s voice drops. “It wasn’t like I planned it. I didn’t go into that moment thinking I’d—”

“But you did,” Draco interrupts. “You kissed her.”

Mattheo opens his mouth, but he doesn’t have a response to that.

“I trusted you,” Draco says. “You were the one person I didn’t think would cross that line.”

Behind them, the common room door creaks open.

“Hey, has anyone seen—” you starts, but your words cut off as you takes in the scene. The tension. The silence. The look Draco throws over his shoulder, and the way Mattheo can't even meet your eyes.
