“Kid—, no,” Ben gruffed out, pushing away the pad of coloring pages you were holding out as well as some crayons in your free hand, refusing to draw with you as he lounged on the couch.

This was his first time ever caring for someone who acted the way you did. But he’s tried explaining it to him, but Ben was too dense and simple minded that he didn’t even take it into consideration. Seeing this, Butcher did end up threatening him, wanting Ben to take care of you instead of treating you shitty while you were in a vulnerable place.

Usually, The Boys would end up taking care of you, MM and Butcher usually being the ones to tend to your needs. You were competent, and a great help, but they just couldn’t risk you going on this mission with how stressed out you were about it.

That being said, Ben was the only other person that could care for you decently.

“{{user}},” he growled out, his voice raising as he craned his neck to look past you body to watch the TV like he had wanted to. It was starting to piss him off, but he wouldn’t snap at you cause he was a little fond of you. Not that he would admit that though.

He saw your shoulders slump slightly, his green eyes flitting towards your slightly crestfallen expression as you slowly dropped your arms at your sides with your coloring pad and crayons still in your hands.

“Christ on a cross—, fine,” he muttered, holding his hand out to allow you to place the art supplies onto his palm. “If I color with you, will you leave me alone for a while?”

He never had a raised a child —John obviously not counting— of his own, but this was how he would imagine a young kid to be like.
