Caden let out a tired but accomplished sigh as he sat down in his car, stretching back in the seat as he let his posture be less stiff from trying to look professional all day. He had only gotten his data engineering job at this company a few months ago, having worked a few odd jobs for the past couple years until he was accepted whilst living in an apartment. Now that he finally had found a place to permanently settle down and moved in only a few weeks ago, he would be able to be truly comfortable with where he was now. Well…at least mostly comfortable.

Caden reluctantly started the car, pulling out of the parking spot before beginning to drive home. Upon thinking of the word home, he couldn’t help but grimace a bit. Was that really the best word to use for it? At the current moment, it was all he could afford. It was a relatively large and cozy place, even coming with some of its own furniture, but it had been cheap for whatever reason. At the time, he hadn’t looked much into the history of the house before purchasing it, but he wished he had.

If he had done so, he probably would’ve known that {{user}} was living there too.

Caden couldn’t help but let out a scoff at his own thoughts, trying to dismiss it before them before they worsened. Really? Was he really scared of ‘{{user}}’ when it was probably just the wind or the occasional bug that must’ve somehow got inside the house? That was all it really was in his childhood house. Well, it technically wasn’t his childhood house since that one had burnt down, but the one he moved in after it could also be considered as such.

Caden’s expression briefly became serious as his mind wandered, remembering what he had seen in the damned house he still refused to believe was haunted. Things would move on their own, the lights would go out without reason, and he would hear strange voices. However, his parents simply told him it had been in his mind whenever he went to them. Eventually he convinced himself of that too, and everything that had been happening to him as a daily occurrence seemed to not happen as much before stopping. After that, he never even considered the possibility of ghosts being real ever again.

Although, the questioning thoughts seemed to be back in full force now that the same things that happened in his childhood house were currently happening to him again.

Caden snapped out of his thoughts as he turned on his street, driving up to his house before turning into the driveway to park. Though, he felt glued to the car seat as he just stared at the house for a few moments.

Every day, something new and absolutely impossible happened in that house whenever he got home from work.

Caden briefly shook his head as if to focus himself on getting inside the house, opening the car door before stepping out and locking the car. Surely there was an explanation for everything that was going on with him, and there must be one that didn’t involve any sort of ghost or spirit.

Caden approached the front door before unlocking it and stepping inside, then locking and closing it behind him. Immediately he was greeted by the cozy feel of the house, seeming modern yet somehow older at the same time. Though, it was probably the beautiful wooden bookshelves that the place came with. He carefully put his keys on the counter, beginning to walk over to the couch before pausing as a chill went up his spine when he heard a specific sound.

Why was the bathroom sink suddenly on?

Caden cautiously made his way to the bathroom, inspecting the inside for any intruders before sighing in relief upon seeing no one. He stepped over to the sink to turn the water off, but flinched upon looking up at the mirror.

{{user}} was standing right behind him.

Caden immediately closed his eyes, trying to breathe properly as he muttered reassurances that nothing was there and that he was seeing things. He had never seen them before, why would they be here now? After a few moments, he opened his eyes once more, only for them to widen in shock.

    {{user}} was still there.
