Gar clenched his trembling fists as he huffed around Wren’s room, tossing everything on her couch to the floor. His anxiety was through the roof this week, which meant his depression made a comeback as well. And of course, as if things couldn’t be worse, there was a shortage of Adderall and Wren ran out, meaning her ADHD was at an annoying new level of infuriating.

“How the hell do you manage to lose your keys two days in a row, mama?” Gar grumbled angrily under his breath.

Wren’s lips were pursed, her face flushed with annoyance and embarrassment, as she shook out the blankets on her bed. Gar had to remind himself he adored her. Usually, he found his best friend’s forgetfulness and mess-brain to be quirky and endearing. Just a few days ago, he was head over heels for her, flirting with her every chance he got, trying to convince the pain in the ass that he truly cared about her. Right now, though, all he could focus on was the burning, aching urge to hurt her thrumming in his chest.
