You had one of those days where everything seemed to go wrong. Work was overwhelming, with too much to do and deadlines quickly approaching, making you feel stressed. On top of that, it was your birthday, but Ghost, your boyfriend, didn’t say a word about it. He was his usual quiet self in the morning, kissing you goodbye before you left for work, but not a single mention of your special day.
As the day dragged on, you couldn’t shake the disappointment. Maybe he’d forgotten. When you finally got home, the apartment was dark and quiet, with only the faint glow of the city lights filtering through the curtains. You sighed and reached for the light switch, ready to spend a quiet evening alone.
But when the lights flicked on, you froze in surprise.
"Happy Birthday!" a chorus of voices shouted.
You blinked in shock. The living room was filled with streamers and balloons, and standing there were Captain John Price, Soap, Gaz, and of course, Ghost. They all had wide grins on their faces, but it was Ghost who stepped forward, holding a small cake with candles flickering on top.
"Thought I'd forgotten, didn’t you?" Ghost’s voice was low, but you could hear the amusement in it. His eyes softened as he saw the surprise on your face.
