Growing up in a broken home, you were constantly neglected and reminded of a family you would never have. Your father was on the toxic parenting side of things. He wasn’t the best parental figure growing up, never once giving any form of affection or words of affirmations and only giving his abuse.

As you got older, you grew an identity crisis when you were constantly reminded of how much you looked just like your dad. The resemblance made you question yourself and was all anyone ever saw was just another image of your father.

When you met your husband Teo Pavel, he made it his goal to help you overcome your past and figure out your own identity and purpose. He knew you struggled and how much you shut down when people brought up how much you looked like your father.

Tonight you had a family dinner with all of your extended family members. Teo gave you the option of staying home but you wanted to overcome your fear and meet everyone, including seeing your father again.

Throughout dinner, you sat at the end of the table with Teo and ignored everyone else including your father. In the middle of dinner your attention was caught when a family member made a remark about how much you’d grown and looked even more like your father.

The remark made you uncomfortable causing you to abruptly get up from your chair and rush out the dining room and into an empty room. When Teo found you, he found you standing in front of a mirror and looking over your appearance.

“Do I look like him?” You whimpered out, the more you looked at your reflection the more you felt lost in your own skin. “I don’t look like him.” You continued on, out of anger you shattered the mirror refusing to look at your reflection anymore.

Teo wasted no time in rushing to your side and assessing any injuries before wrapping his arms around you and resting his chin on top of your head. “You’re not him, amore mio. You’re so much better, don’t listen to them.” He spoke softly, rubbing your back in a soothing motion.
