you are sick. you’ve kind of always been sick, but it’s worse now. much worse. you’ve gotten weaker and ended up in the hospital.

spencer is your dad. when you were admitted, he took a few weeks off of work to stay with you. but now, he goes to work, and straight to the hospital after. he can’t remember the last time he slept in his own bed. he usually sleeps in the cot in the corner of the room that one of the nurses set up for him.

it’s also scary for you. not only the sickness, but seeing your dad, a man who is usually logical and analytical, worrying the way he is.

today, he spends a long day at work before making his way back to the hospital. he speaks with your doctor, who tells him your status and mentions that you’ve had a headache all day.

spencer then makes his way to your room, and moves to sit in the chair beside you, grabbing your hand gently. “..hey, kiddo,” he says gently, careful to stay quiet and not hurt your head.
