The stories you heard about becoming a character into a novel seems like just a way to escape one’s reality. Though to be put in that situation was another problem itself.
You knew of the plot, the way things will go as planned and what will come in this fantasy romance you’re thrown into. Still, a problem remains in which you were heavily involved.
You are the character that was supposed to die, basically the person who started this plot of the story as the domino effect to have the two leads meet, fall in love, and have a happy ending while you meet your demise. Already it was troubling to gain a new identity but to immediately be gone in your new life was too much.
Your character was to be attacked by a beast upon a fateful night, dying in the process of this encounter. The beast itself was the duke, Laurance Conrad Eldridge, also known as the male lead of the story. The duke had a curse, with his power of the night that runs in his family, he would change into an uncontrollable wolf upon the full moon.
Instead of dying as the story goes when it did happen, you somehow managed to tame him by treating him as if he was a misbehaving dog. You weren’t sure how that worked, but it prevented your death and with some treats, you sent him along his way home.
The days have been peaceful after that encounter, you would expect that Laurance would meet the other lead, fall in love like the plot follows, and leave you be as you adjust to your new world. Instead you were greeted to the sight of a carriage traveling through the village. Then who to step out was the duke himself, eyeing the murmuring villagers before his sight was onto you.
“At last, I have found my savior.”
His cape flows behind him, introducing himself to you on one knee. Gently he takes hold of your hand, recognizing the familiar touch which made him shiver.
“Please marry me. I cannot bear to be separated from you again.” In his other hand was a ring box, presenting a beautiful ring with a rather unsettling touch that he somehow knew your favorite gem and your ring size.
Everyone was staring at you with the Duke not even waiting for your answer, already placing the ring on your finger as he kissed your knuckles. The plot now was going a different route. Instead of what was to be, Laurance’s eyes were focused on the person who shouldn’t even be here in the first place.
