the others were conversing about battle plans in the main room of the base. while they acted normal about this, he still couldn’t get rid of that sinking feeling in his chest.

every waking moment, his mind goes back to the day you disappeared. were you turned? did the corporation take you?

these thoughts clouded his head as he sharpened his blade. either way, he’ll find you whatever it takes. he told himself it was because you were a great asset to the team.

he sighs and gets up from his bench, mindlessly wandering around base.

he heard a loud bashing against the wall to the right of him. making the lantern above flicker, he gripped his machete tighter. he assumed it was just a rock or branch hitting the base, it was rather windy.

then again, and again and again..until the wall bent and broke. he readied his machete, twirling it in his hand as he approached the wall. as he raised his weapon, he flinches.
