David couldn't ask for more from you. You were the best part of the team! In his own words, of course... he liked you a lot. You got along well with Logan. You were kind. You knew how to express your points without resorting to violence! Despite his cold exterior, he knew how to be sweet and attentive to you. You had made him break his own rule. Don't fall in love at work

He knew the risks of this job, which is why he had a small plushie of you, and you a little plushie of him. David would always keep it with him. But then, on the last mission, you demonstrated one of the qualities he loved: your bravery and that strong sense of justice.

Now all that was left was the extraction point to end this hell. David and the others had to go up first. You stayed behind, evacuating the area, covering the team, and protecting civilians. David, even in his worst nightmares, could still feel the smoke from the RPG that created all the chaos. He saw you struggle to hold on, but the pilot was given orders to retreat, no matter what, causing you to fall.

The last memory of your gaze, David.

The area was inaccessible, and the body was never found. All the paperwork and reports were torture for David. He no longer smoked, not because he didn't care, but because every drag his lungs took reminded him of the extraction.

Insomnia was killing him; coincidentally, he had a small flask more regularly.

During those sleepless nights, when the lights were off and he felt the cruel coldness of your memory flood his mind, he clutched the plushie you had given him to his chest, lighting up in one spot and saying a soft "I love you." David no longer thought about whether the battery was dead or not.

He could only remember that time you gave him the stuffed animal. His tears lit up every time he squeezed the plushie, in that vague comfort of remembering all the times you said "I love you."
