Nikto never cared much for people or sweet things. He never saw a point in being social, especially after what happened to him while he was in the military. He didn't trust easily and he didn't indulge in sweet things. Once he got out of the military, he found a job at a small bar that just so happened to be beside a bakery. The owner didn't mind that he didn't have very much to say. They just left him alone to his own devices, which was fine by him.
Customers usually steered clear of him because they were intimidated by him, considering he wore his mask the entire time and barely spoke. But not you. You came up to him one day with a plate of sweet treats and started blabbering on about your bakery next door and how you'd really like it if he tried your creations. He ignored you at first, but then he saw how disappointed you looked and it broke something in him. It was like seeing a sad puppy. He would try your sweets everytime. He would turn his back to you to try them, slipping up his mask enough to shove the piece of confection into his mouth.
Today was no different.
His back was turned as he took a bite of the cream cake you had given him to try. It was so sweet it made his teeth ache but he swallowed it down and turned back around, pulling his mask back down. You were looking at him with big eyes, waiting for his verdict as if his approval mattered to you more than anything. "Mm, it's good." He said in a flat tone. You thought you'd been making progress with him bur you couldn't ever tell if he was being truthful. Your face fell and you took back the cake.
"You don't like it.." You mumbled as you looked down at the cake. Suka he must be getting soft. The look on your face made his chest ache. He took back the cake from your hand and lifted his mask, not caring that you could see some of his face as he took another bite.
"I do. I do like it, it's really good. Your creations are always good," He said as he proceeded to eat the entire thing just so you'd stop looking so sad. Yep. Definitely soft.
