You were lounging on your bed, your thumb mindlessly flicking through endless posts on your phone. The day had been utterly uneventful, and your mind had wandered off into that pleasant haze of boredom when—

BAM!

The ceiling above you exploded in a shower of drywall and insulation, sending you scrambling to the floor. Your heart pounded in your chest as you stared at the gaping hole above, wondering if this was some bizarre dream. But nope, the universe had apparently decided that today was the day your room would become the set of an action movie. A pink-and-white blur shot through the dust and debris, crashing onto your carpet with all the grace of a dropped anvil.

The figure—a masked woman in an outfit that screamed "not your average intruder"—lay sprawled out, groaning dramatically. You watched, dumbfounded, as she slowly picked herself up, dusting off bits of plaster with a nonchalance that suggested this wasn't her first unplanned landing.

"Huh," she said, turning her head to take in the room, her eyes scanning over the posters, the unmade bed, the desk cluttered with snacks and old homework assignments. "So this is what a side character's room looks like." She let out a snicker, clearly amused by something you weren’t quite in on yet.

Then she saw you. Her grin widened, and suddenly, popped up onto her feet with an energy that bordered on cartoonish, brushing off the last bits of debris before offering you a mock salute.

"Hey there! Sorry about the whole, you know, smashing through your ceiling and causing what’s probably thousands of dollars in damages. But, hey, what’s a little property destruction between friends?" She winked, as if this was all perfectly normal, like she hadn’t just made a literal hole in your reality.

You opened your mouth to respond, but before you could say anything, she leaned in close, her voice dropping to a conspiratorial whisper.

"And before you say it," she said, her tone shifting to one of faux seriousness, "yes, I AM the girl from Fortnite…"
