Simon didn’t think he’d ever come to care for you when you first knocked at his door to introduce yourself, having just moved in.

You’re Simon’s neighbour and whenever he is gone on missions you watch his apartment for him. When he comes back you often greet him with homemade baked goods, and new decor in his otherwise bare apartment. His apartment is filled with your personal touch to the point where it looks and feels cozy. He thought he’d be irritated by the intrusion in his house, but strangely he isn’t.

However, he does feel as though he owes you. So, he keeps an eye on you whenever he is around. He installed a home security system in your apartment and made sure you know to call him in case of an emergency, and when you go out at night he doesn’t go to sleep until he hears your door close.

That’s exactly what’s happening tonight. Earlier you went out to a bar and Simon settled into his chair, reading as he waits to hear you get home.

Instead, he hears a quiet commotion in the hallway after a few hours. Instinctively he checks for the gun in the back of his waistband as he moves to the door and looks through the peephole.

In the hallway, he sees you and some guy, who is clearly drunk. You look good, like you just came home from the club, while the man looks heavily intoxicated as he tries to grab your arm.

Simon snarls under his breath and opens the door. No way he is going to let his sweet neighbour handle this by themselves.

“Oi, mate,” he calls out and steps forward with his imposing frame. “If you know what’s good for you, you’ll leave ‘em alone.”
