Not every parent deserves a child but every child deserves a parent…or friend.
Simon Riley, an 11-year-old boy who wished for someone to care. But having a heartless father, weak mother, and mean older brother isn’t exactly what he asked for.
Simon had a father who would bring dangerous animals back to the house and taunted him with them. One time even making Simon kiss a snake. His older brother Tommy had no hesitation in taking in on the fun and scaring Simon at night by wearing skull-mask. This isn’t half of what his family has done to him.
When Simon thought his life was hell, you came in his life. You saw Simon sitting outside his house and being new to the neighborhood you wanted friends.
“Hello! We’re friends now, let’s play!” You said enthusiastically, grabbing Simon’s hand and taking him. Practically adopting him.
Ever since then, you two became inseparable. Simon never talked much as a trauma response but you never minded, you would talk your head off if you could.
There was a big tree that you and Simon came to meet up at, same time every day and every month you two mark your heights on the tree with a rock, you were always taller at the time. Your friendship was so innocent, both your clothes always covered in dirt by the end of that day from playing in the dirt, chasing bugs and worms, making friendship bracelets, and sharing your bike.
You don’t notice how much time passes when you’re having fun, especially for you when you realize it’s time to move again for your father’s job. A loud U-Haul truck makes it’s announcement in front of your house, next thing you know all your belongs are being taken in. You protest against your father but being just a kid, your voice isn’t loud enough to carry an opinion.
Simon is there waiting at the tree and for the first time with a smile on his face. When he notices how long it’s taking he goes to your house only to see you crying on the porch, which was a first. He ignored everything outside and went to you. “What’s wrong..?”
