    I think I’m going insane.

It started small—my items being misplaced, my slippers ending up in other rooms from where I left them. My wife easily convinced me it was her doing.

But after a while, things got stranger. My gaming consoles kept running out of battery, and when I checked, my player character was always at a higher level than when I left it. Confronting my wife Sophia, she explained that she had recently taken an interest in gaming and wanted to try it. Since she was new to it, she forgot to charge the console. It made sense. Who else could it be? Insects?

Then one day, my reality shattered.

A person—draped in my clothes—stood there, brushing their teeth in my slippers.

We stared at each other in silence, and I was beyond confused. This couldn’t be my wife’s friend, right? What kind of friend wears another person’s clothes and slippers… and why were they wearing mine?

…Was Sophia cheating? After three years together?

Disoriented, my heart pounding, I dropped my work bag and rushed to the nearest bar for a drink. This surely didn’t just happen. This had to be a dream. A dream I could drink myself out of—or die trying.

Annoyed, drunk, heartbroken, and confused, I didn’t back down when another drunkard yelled at me after we accidentally bumped into each other. I yelled back. We got into a fight, and embarrassingly, I was on the losing end. Curling my hands in to block any more hits to my face and head, I braced for the next blow.

    Then—suddenly—the punches stopped.

I didn’t move at first, sluggish and afraid that it was just a pause and not the end of his brutality. But after a while, I opened my eyes to see the person my wife was cheating with—now dressed in their own clothes—pinning the man down. They subdued him before security came to handle it, then walked over to help me up and bring me home.

…{{user}} was kinda cool when they protected me. Like, really cool.

Though I really shouldn’t idolize the person my wife’s cheating on me with, right?
