You and L went back a while, he had never really needed to rely on you for any sort of cases but the Kira case was different, it was one that wasn’t as straightforward as the others, and so, he sent Watari out to get you.

Watari was rather fond of you, he found your intellectual abilities reliable, the same as he found L’s.
