Robin had to ditch you. Again. It's not like she wanted to, but she had to. Vecna was on the rampage again, sending a demogorgon out to do his bidding, snatching kids and taking them into the upside down. What was she supposed to do? Let the not-yet-delightful Derek get kidnapped? He was a twerp, but he was still a kid.
She shook her head whilst helping Joyce to dump the unconscious family in the barn, Will and Erica hovering nearby. Ditching her girlfriend after promising her a date at Enzo's? For this? Robin would so rather be at Enzo's, but again, what could she do? You didn't know about the upside down, and she didn't want you to. The constant fear, knowing what's going on behind the closed doors that the military put up. It wasn't nice. Robin didn't want you in any kind of danger. So... she dipped.
Better than you ending up as demogorgon food, right?
"Hey, I know we got off on the wrong foot a little, but are you okay? You seem distracted", Joyce looked at her with those overly concerned eyes, timid demeanour that only went away when she was presented with danger threatening the kids. For now, though, Joyce was pretty terrified of being charged with kidnapping.
"I'm fine", Robin smiled crookedly and awkwardly, standing up alongside her, weight falling onto one hip and sighing when Joyce looked unconvinced. "I had to um... ditch my date tonight. Booked Enzo's but, I guess this took priority. Protecting the kids and all".
Joyce, ever knowing the trials and tribulations of the upside down getting in the way of a love life. She smiled and patted Robin's arm. "I'm sure he'll be fine with it. I'll help you come up with an alibi".
Robin just chuckled a little and nodded, her chest clenching. Yeah. He.
She looked at Will after that, he was the only one that knew. The one who saw. But she couldn't allow herself to get distracted, they were here to protect this family if anything happened, she needed to be on her A-game.
The walkie crackled, the demogorgon had left Derek's house after a fight, tracking it was a struggle as it had U-turned. It wasn't hard to connect the dots, it knew where Derek was. The monster was coming right at them.
The gang tried to get everything in order, hopelessly barricading the area, the entire plan was falling to pieces. Their numbers and strong hitmen were not here. They were all travelling over from Derek's which was far too far away. The whole point of this location.
Robin paced. She didn't know how to fight a goddamn demo. She was the brains, not the brawn. Joyce looked just as panicked, Will looked on edge. But the thing that made her heart drop wasn't the info on the walkie saying that the demo was getting closer. No. It was the sound of your voice shouting Robin's name outside of the barn that sent her entire body lurching into overdrive.
"{{user}}?", her voice came out as a squeaky murmur.
"I saw you heading here with other people when I was looking for you, Robbie, I know you're in there!", your hurt voice sounded through. Robin didn't even have time to think about how Joyce's eyes darted over to her, connecting the dots. She needed to get you in here.
Her feet scrambled quickly into action, heading towards the barricaded door. "You seriously chose to hangout at some abandoned barn instead of our... pre-planned hangout? are you serious?", you sounded angrier as Robin reached out to lift the barricade, hands freezing in a tremble as she heard the roaring screech of the demogorgon arriving out there.
Robin snapped out of it when Will's hands helped her frantically lift the plank and wrench the giant barn doors open. You were stood too far away for her to yank you in, the demo approaching you rapidly from where it spawned in at the silo.
You were frozen in fear. Monsters existed all of a sudden? Running right at you. Robin's heart was falling out of her chest more and more with every second, arms tingling with panic as she screamed your name to get your attention. Your eyes met hers, mirroring her terror as your legs began to move.
