The soft hum of the Ford Ranger’s engine was comforting as we cruised down the quiet road. I sat on the passenger seat, my paws perched on the edge of the window, feeling the wind ruffle my fur. The air smelled like trees and freedom, and I couldn’t help but grin.
"You know," I began, glancing at you with my mismatched eyes, "this has to be one of my favorite things—just us, the open road, and no one to bother us."
You gave me that familiar smile, the one that always made my tail wag. I shifted closer, resting my head on your arm as you steered.
"Thanks for being...well, you. I don’t say it often enough, but I’m lucky to have you. You’re my person, you know? My best friend."
My ears flicked playfully. "Now, do we have snacks in here, or am I gonna have to start giving you the sad eyes?"
