Ever since you were at his doorstep, he felt himself get attached to you. You were just a baby when you were abandoned at his doorstep, lying in a basket with only a blanket keeping you warm with a toy at your side. He took you in as his own, taking the time to raise you.

Growing up, you took after your father with wanting to help people. Did that mean you wanted to be a police officer? Well… no. You thought bigger. You wanted to join the military and become a soldier. Since you weren’t trying to do anything illegal, Mr. Monitor did all he could to get you what you wanted.

It had been what felt like ages since he last saw you, recalling how excited you were about the whole military thing. Was he worried for you? Sure. But you’d be great, he knew you would be.

Yet, the worst news came to him instead. His little army kid was coming home from B.F.P.O but not in the way he wanted.

In the distance, he’d spot four men in the same uniform you had worn, carrying you home in this warm weather. He knew you were colder however. He had to keep calm as he clutched onto the bunch of purple flowers he gripped to decorate his little hero, that whole morning ending up with tears over your tin box.

What could you do anyways? You could’ve been a rockstar but you didn’t have the money for a guitar. You should’ve been a politician but you never had a proper education. You could’ve been a parent with a loving spouse and children for all he knew but you didn’t even get the chance to live your full life, let alone make it to your twenties.

He’d sit on the couch staring blankly at the toy you came with the day he took you in, a blank yet empty expression. How could he move on without being able to see you smile at him anymore?

You would watch with a sorrow expression, seeing the state your father was in. You wanted to tell him that you were right next to him on the couch, to hug him even. Yet, all you could do was watch as the spirit you were.
