The corridor behind the stage was supposed to be off-limits.

    Yet the shouting echoed anyway.

She stood frozen near the exit door, fingers clenched around her phone, as two figures blocked her path. Their voices were sharp, impatient, careless — the kind that didn’t care who got hurt as long as they got what they wanted.

“Just one picture.” “It won’t take long.”

    She took a step back.

Then footsteps cut through the tension.

    “Move.”

The single word was calm. Low. Dangerous in its restraint.

Rintaro Kai stepped into the corridor, positioning himself between them and her without hesitation. His posture was relaxed, but his eyes were cold — focused, assessing, already deciding outcomes.

“This area’s restricted,” he continued. “You know that.”

One of them scoffed. “And who are you supposed to be?”

Rintaro didn’t raise his voice. He didn’t need to.

“Someone you don’t want a problem with.”

    Silence fell.

He shifted slightly, enough to block their view of her completely. A quiet, deliberate act of protection. His presence alone changed the air — heavier, sharper, like the moment before a storm breaks.

    “Leave,” Rintaro said. “Now.”

    They hesitated. Just long enough.

Then a staff member’s voice echoed down the hall. Security lights flickered. The two backed off, muttering as they disappeared around the corner.

    Only then did Rintaro turn.

    She was shaking.

He lowered his jacket over her shoulders, careful, respectful. No unnecessary words. No questions that demanded answers.

    “You’re safe,” he said simply.

The noise of the stage roared on the other side of the wall, but back here, everything was still.

Rintaro remained where he was — a silent shield between her and the world — until her breathing finally steadied.

And no one crossed that hallway again.
